Dead Drop, the order block indicator MT5 that waits where the money was left
Every violent move starts somewhere, and that somewhere is almost always one quiet candle pointing the other way. Institutions fill their orders there, price runs off, and later it comes back to collect what it left behind. Dead Drop is an order block indicator MT5 that boxes that candle and fires the first time price walks back into the box.
The arrow does not repaint, does not move and does not disappear. It needs a closed candle, and once it prints it stays exactly where it printed.
Real chart, gold on M5. A drop leaves a box behind, price climbs back into it and the candle closes red again. The sell arrow prints at 4353.08 with the stop just above the box at 4355.79, a risk of only 27 pips. Two candles later the trade is already 68 pips ahead, which is two and a half times the risk, and inside the same screen gold slid to 4316.25, a run of 368 pips. Every price comes from the exact candle history of that chart.
Why the candle before the move matters so much
A big move does not start because everybody suddenly agrees. Instead, it starts because one side ran out of orders exactly where the other side had been loading. That last opposite candle is the footprint of the loading, and in the forex market those footprints get revisited again and again.
However, drawing boxes everywhere helps nobody. Therefore Dead Drop only keeps the candle that came right before a close beyond the whole look back, with a body above average. As a result the chart shows very few boxes, and each one means something.
What this order block indicator MT5 checks before it fires
- The impulse. A candle closes past the highest high or the lowest low of the look back, with a body bigger than average.
- The drop zone. The tool walks back a few candles and boxes the last one that pointed the other way.
- The return. Price has to come back and touch the box, not just get close to it.
- The reaction. The candle closes back out of the box, in the direction of the original move.
Besides, a box that price closes through is dropped on the spot, so you never trade a zone the market already ate.
How to trade the signals
- Enter on the close of the arrow candle. The zone already did its job.
- Stop on the far side of the box, which is the last support under a buy or the last resistance over a sell.
- Take profit two candles after the one that broke out. Three candles counting that one, then close. In most cases that is where the move pays best.
- Let it run only when the trend agrees. Also, the arrow stays on the chart, so you can manage the trade without watching every tick.
Markets and timeframes
| Gold XAUUSD | M5, the example above |
| EURUSD and GBPUSD | M5 to H1 |
| All major pairs | M5 to H1, the same rules |
Gold on M5 is where this tool shines, because gold leaves clean boxes and comes back to them fast. In practice, higher timeframes give fewer signals with wider stops, so the routine above fits the lower charts better.

Questions about this order block indicator MT5
Does it repaint? No. The box comes from candles that already closed, and the arrow needs a closed candle too.
Why did a box disappear? Because price closed through it. A zone that fails is no longer a zone, so the tool drops it.
Can I use it on other markets? Yes. It reads candles only, so indices and crypto charts work the same way.
Do you have the other version? Yes. This is the MetaTrader 5 build, and Dead Drop for MT4 boxes the same candles on MetaTrader 4.
