ECN vs Zero Spread vs Standard Accounts for EAs

The account type you choose has a big impact on how an EA performs, especially scalpers. Here is the difference in plain language.

Standard account

No commission, but a wider spread baked into the price. Fine for slower strategies on higher timeframes, but the spread eats into fast scalping.

ECN account

Raw, very tight spreads plus a small commission per trade. Execution is fast and direct. This is the preferred choice for most scalping and high frequency EAs.

Zero spread account

Near zero spread with a commission. Similar to ECN and excellent for M1 Gold scalpers where every fraction of a pip counts.

Which should you pick?

For fast Gold and M1 scalpers, go ECN or Zero spread. For calmer trend systems a good Standard account can work. Our product pages list the recommended account type for each robot. Browse the best Gold EAs for MT4.
