Warband, the three white soldiers MT4 indicator that waits for the whole army
One strong candle can be a fluke. Three strong candles in a row, each one closing further than the last, is an army on the march. Warband is a three white soldiers MT4 indicator that spots that march in both directions: three white soldiers for buys and three black crows for sells. It fires one arrow on the third candle, once it has closed.
That arrow does not repaint, does not move and does not disappear. It needs three finished candles, so once it prints, it is part of the chart for good.
Real chart, GBPUSD on M30, and this time the army marches down. After a bounce, three full red candles close lower one after another and the sell arrow prints at 1.35099. The stop goes above the first soldier at 1.35262, a risk of 17 pips. The pound dropped to 1.34818, 28 pips, and a few days later it kept falling far below. Every price here comes from the exact candle history of that chart.
What the three soldiers pattern says
The three white soldiers pattern is one of the oldest in Japanese candle reading. Three long bodies, small shadows, each one opening inside the previous body and closing at a new extreme. Likewise, its mirror, the three black crows, marks the same thing on the way down.
In short, the idea behind it is simple. One side of the market pushed for three candles in a row and the other side never managed to answer. However, drawn by eye, this pattern shows up everywhere. That is why Warband measures every soldier against the average candle of the market before it calls anything an army.
What Warband checks before it fires
- Three full bodies. Each candle must have a body at least as big as a normal candle of that market.
- Small shadows. The candle must close near its extreme, with only a short shadow against the march.
- A clean march. Each soldier opens inside the body of the one before and closes further.
- A pullback first. By default, the march must start from a dip, so the arrow catches a fresh push instead of the tired end of a long run.
As a result, you get far fewer arrows than a basic pattern finder, and each one comes from a real show of force.
How to trade the three white soldiers MT4 signals
- Enter on the close of the third candle. The march is complete and confirmed.
- Stop beyond the first soldier. If price gets back there, the army was beaten.
- Take a first profit at the size of your risk, then let the rest follow the march.
- Skip the arrow right into a big level. Also, if the third candle closes straight into yesterday’s high or low, wait for the next one.
Markets and timeframes
| All forex pairs | M30, the best balance between clean marches and enough signals |
| Gold | M30, same rules |
| Higher timeframes | H1 and H4 work too, with fewer and slower signals |
In practice, M30 is where this three white soldiers MT4 tool gives its best. Three half hour candles in a row need real money behind them, while lower charts fill up with small marches that go nowhere.

Questions about this three white soldiers MT4 indicator
Does it repaint? No. The arrow needs three closed candles. Once it prints, it does not move and it does not disappear.
Does it also find three black crows? Yes. Buys come from white soldiers, sells from black crows, with the same rules mirrored.
Can I get more signals? Yes. Lower the body power or switch off the pullback filter. Keep in mind that the defaults are the ones that gave the cleanest marches.
Do you have the other version? Yes. This is the MetaTrader 4 build, and Warband for MT5 finds the same marches on MetaTrader 4.
