Witching Hour, the midnight open indicator MT4 that marks where the day starts

Traders who follow the ICT school do not measure the day from the broker clock. Instead, they measure it from midnight in New York, because that price splits the day into cheap and expensive. Witching Hour is a midnight open indicator MT4 that draws that line for you and fires when price raids one side of it and closes straight back across.

The arrow does not repaint, does not move and does not disappear. It needs a closed candle, and once it prints it stays exactly where it printed.

Real chart, EURUSD on H1. Price spends hours above the midnight line, until a candle pushes up, fails and closes back under it. Then the sell arrow prints at 1.15996 with the stop on the tip of that push at 1.16073, a risk of only 8 pips. From there the euro slid to 1.14548, a move of 144 pips, eighteen times the risk. Every price comes from the exact candle history of that chart.

Why the midnight price matters

Every desk needs a reference to decide whether today is dear or cheap, and in the forex market the New York midnight is the one that most algorithms use. As a result, price spends the session dancing around it.

However, crossing that line by itself proves nothing, because price can cross it ten times in a quiet morning. Therefore Witching Hour asks for a real raid first: price has to spend candles on the wrong side and push a decent distance away before the cross back counts as a signal.

What Witching Hour checks before it fires

1. The line. The open of the New York midnight candle, drawn across the whole day and labelled.
2. The raid. Price must have travelled a real distance beyond the line, not just touched it.
3. The cross back. A candle closes back on the other side, in the right colour.
4. No contradictions. After a signal, the opposite side waits until price has genuinely turned, so the chart never fills with arrows fighting each other.

As a result you get two or three clean signals a day instead of a dozen crosses.

How to trade the midnight open indicator MT4 signals

• Enter on the close of the arrow candle. The raid is already done.
• Stop on the tip of the raid. After all, if price goes back there, the cross was a fake.
• Target the session extreme, or trail while price keeps holding its side of the line.
• Use the line as a filter. Also, while price stays under the midnight open, favour the sells, and the opposite above it.

Questions about this midnight open indicator MT4

Does it repaint? No. The line is fixed from the midnight candle and the arrow needs a closed candle.

My line sits at the wrong hour, what do I change? Just one setting: the midnight hour in server time. The default of seven fits most brokers.

Why does it skip some crosses? Because price had not raided far enough, or the opposite side was still locked. Both filters exist to keep the signals clean.
