Mutiny, the market structure indicator MT4 that calls the moment the trend changes hands

A trend is nothing more than a chain of swings. While the highs and the lows keep climbing, the buyers are in charge, and the day one of those swings breaks the other way, the ship changes captain. Mutiny is a market structure indicator MT4 that maps those swings for you and fires on the exact candle that takes one of them out.

The arrow does not repaint, does not move and does not disappear. It needs a closed candle, and once it prints it stays exactly where it printed.

Real chart, EURUSD on M15. First, the market had been holding one low for hours. Then a candle closed under it and the label read TURN. The sell arrow prints at 1.14617 with the stop above the swing at 1.14731, a risk of 12 pips. From there the euro fell to 1.14338, a move of 27 pips, and the structure stayed bearish for the rest of the session. Every price comes from the exact candle history of that chart.

Turn or carry on, the two things a break can mean

Not every broken swing means a reversal. Sometimes the market simply keeps doing what it was already doing, and the break is fuel rather than news. Therefore Mutiny labels each one: TURN when the break goes against the previous direction, and CARRY ON when it goes with it.

As a result you always know which kind of trade you are taking. First breaks after a long push are the ones that change the day, while the ones that follow are the ones that pay the trend. Both are drawn, and both can be switched off.

What this market structure indicator MT4 checks before it fires

1. The swings. First of all, only points with real candles on both sides count as a swing.
2. The standing level. Then the last swing that nothing has taken out yet is the one that matters.
3. The break. After that, a candle has to close beyond it with a body above the minimum you set.
4. The first one only. Once a level breaks, it is consumed, so the same swing never fires twice.

Besides, the broken level stays drawn with its label, so the story of the session can be read at a glance.

How to trade the signals

• Enter on the close of the arrow candle. By then the break is already done.
• Stop on the other side of the swing that just broke, which is usually a few pips away.
• Target the next swing in the new direction. Alternatively, hold while the labels keep saying CARRY ON.
• Use it as a filter. Also, after a TURN, ignore the signals that point the old way.

Markets and timeframes

Structure works on every chart, and for that reason this one has no favourite pair. In practice, M1 gives a busy scalping chart and H1 gives a handful of clean turns per week.

Questions about this market structure indicator MT4

Does it repaint? No. A swing is confirmed by candles that already closed, and the break needs a closed candle as well.

How do I get fewer signals? Raise the swing strength. Otherwise, switch the continuation breaks off and keep only the turns.

Is this the same as break of structure? Yes, it is the same idea that the technical analysis crowd calls BOS and CHoCH, drawn without the jargon.
